Beta Omega Phi is an Asian American interest fraternity founded in 1965 by 21 students at Cal State University, Los Angeles.
Beta Omega Phi was founded at California State University, Los Angeles in 1965, and is one of the oldest Asian American interest fraternities at University of Southern California and San Diego State University. It was originally established as a social organization for Asian American interests which promote trust, unity, and friendship through an everlasting brotherhood for its members. The Beta chapter is the only minority organization to establish a house on USC's famous Greek Row. USC Beta Omega Phi prides itself on being the strongest minority organization at USC and has secured a house on USC's Greek Row for the past 10 years. Being such a visible minority organization, Betas have become the target of discrimination in the past and have faced adversity at the university since its chartering in 1988. Beta Omega Phi's official sister sororities are CSULA Kappa Zeta Phi and USC Sigma Phi Omega The Alpha chapter is an "open" fraternity, which accepts college students from any junior colleges or four year universities, however, the Beta and Gamma chapters are both "closed," requiring that the students attend the host campuses and have good standing in the university.
