Alcohol Awareness Week at Ball State University

Ball State University was founded in 1899 as a private normal school, which became part of the state college system in 1918.

Ball State’s annual Alcohol Awareness Week starts today with the “Watch your Friend’s Back!” campaign, tying the theme to the on-campus death of an Indiana University student a few weeks ago.

“We started talking about alcohol awareness and talking about education, not about abstinence,” he said. “I think it’s geared more towards education risks that are involved with consuming alcohol.”

What alcohol can do to your body, recent studies show that moderate use of alcohol may have a beneficial effect on the coronary system. In general, for healthy people, one drink per day for women and no more than two drinks per day for men would be considered the maximum amount of alcohol consumption to be considered moderate use.
