Boston University BRACED Luscinski scores twice in 5-0 win‎

According to source – Jessica Luscinski scored twice and added an assist to lead the Boston University Terriers to a 5-0 victory over the Vermont Catamounts in an America East game at Nickerson Field on Thursday evening.

Boston U, winners of four straight, improves to 9-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the league. Vermont falls to 3-6-3 on the year and 1-1-0 in league play.

After an hour-long rain delay, the Terriers wasted no time lighting up scoreboard as Luscinski scored her first goal of the game 12 minutes in. The Terriers were able to send a ball over the top of the UVM defense and Luscinski picked it up on the other end. She was able to break free of the UVM defense and beat Vermont goalkeeper Sarah Leiby one-on-one for her fourth goal of the season.
In the second half, the Terriers exploded for four goals. Luscinski picked up an assist on Emma Clark’s first goal of the season just two minutes into the second stanza. Luscinski sent a cross into the penalty box and Clark was there to finish it off.

Madison Clemens gave Boston U a 3-0 lead in the 49th minute. She headed in a cross from teammate Taylor Krebs for her second tally of the year.

Luscinski added her second goal of the game in the 55th minute finishing off a cross from Brittany Heist to push BU’s lead to 4-0.

Tiya Gallegos closed out the scoring for the Terriers scoring her first goal of the year in the 70th minute.

The Terriers out shot Vermont 20-3 in the match. Leiby combined with Morgan Nichols to make eight saves for the Catamounts. Alice Binns and Andrea Green split time in net for the Terriers and made one stop.

BU will look to keep the momentum going on Sunday, Oct. 2, when it heads to Maine for a 12 p.m. contest.

Vermont tourney raised money for Former Boston University hockey player foundation

According to the news – Wiffle ball tournament organizers in Vermont say that raised $406,000 for this year’s annual ebent.

The money they gather from the tournament will benefit Travis Roy Foundation. Actually, the foundation is founded by former hockey player of Boston University Travis Roy. In 1995, he got paralyze in his first game as a collegian.

The venue of the event is at the of Pat O’ Connot, who constructed Fenway Park replica in year 2001 and in 2004 added Wrigley field replica. The foundation benefits and promotes awareness of people that has spinal cord injuries. The amount raised by the tournament is $1.5 million since 1992.

Boston College Law receives $3M gift for loan forgiveness

According to source, Boston College Law School plans to help more of its graduates afford public service jobs and continue in them for for several years. On Jan. 17, the school announced the Francis X. Bellotti Loan Repayment and Forgiveness Program, which will be funded through a $3 million endowment.

B.C. Law alumni who have graduated within the past five years and earn $57,000 or less in a range of public service jobs are eligible. Eligible jobs include the following: legal jobs that aid the poor; nonprofit law positions; and legal posts in city, state and federal government agencies.

The Bellotti loan program will add $150,000 per year to BC Law’s loan forgiveness program, which spent $330,000 in 2010, giving money to 79 recipients. The school expects the endowment to provide the funding in perpetuity.

B.C. Law’s loan forgiveness program offers loans of $500 to $7,000 that can be used to pay down participants’ law school loans. The loans can be cancelled, and effectively turned into grants, if participants meet all program conditions.

Participants are no longer eligible once their income reaches $65,000.

The $3 million endowment for the Bellotti loan program includes $2 million contributed by the Arbella Insurance Group Charitable Foundation. Francis X. Bellotti, a 1952 BC Law alumnus and a former Massachusetts attorney general, founded Arbella Insurance Group. Arbella and Bellotti raised the other $1 million in individual contributions.

“It encourages people to get into public service or public interest efforts and to remain there,” Bellotti said. “They can’t do that if they don’t make much money.”

It’s important to have a cross-section of people learn to work together in public service legal careers, and funding will help facilitate that, Bellotti said.

“[It's] very important when you think of the kind of dialogue you have now on the national political scene,” Bellotti said.
