According to source, Even before he came to The Hill School for a post-grad year, Lee Marvel had his eyes set on Bucknell University as the perfect place to continue his football and academic careers.

And it was the Patriot League, which Bucknell is a member of, that played an even bigger role in drawing his attention.

“Before my post-grad year my goal was to get into the Patriot League for football,” Marvel said. “But when I graduated from high school, my grades kind of got in the way. So that made me do the post-grad year. I boosted my grades up in the first semester, which helped me in getting recruited.”

At the Hill, Marvel had no choice but to buckle down and get his GPA up to speed. He did, and excelled not only in the classroom but on the football field as a running back and linebacker for the Rams.

It took an extra year for him to reach his dream, but Marvel —a Council Rock North graduate — recently signed his letter of intent with the Division I-AA Bison.

Dover grad Hornock recognized by Bucknell University

Sasha Hornock, a Dover High School graduate, was named the Susquehanna Valley Limousine Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday, according to a Bucknell University news release.

Hornock claimed a pair of individual titles at the Bison Open and Multi to earn her first Bison Athlete of the Week honor. The sophomore put together two of her best 60-meter races in succession, running 7.83 seconds in the preliminaries. In the finals, she ran the race in 7.77 seconds, nearly setting a school record.

Her time in the finals was .02 seconds off Tolu Fayanjuola’s school record. Hornock also won the long jump for the second time this season, finishing with a distance of 18 feet, ¼ inch.
