According to source, Several College of the Ozarks students plan to participate in the annual 30-hour famine starting at 10 a.m. Friday.
The student volunteers will be among many others around the nation to raise money to assist children living in poverty. The volunteers will erect “shanty towns” made of cardboard boxes at K-mart, Country Mart and both Walmart stores in Branson, as well as at Country Mart in Hollister. They will experience sleeping in the cold and how it feels to be hungry.
Funds raised will help care for children in poverty afflicted countries, according to a press release from the college. In addition, a portion of the funds will support World Vision’s efforts to assist families in need in the United States.
