According to the news – Four members of Connecticut State University System teamed up to bring completely new program that awards graduate the certificate in nanotechnology.

In Southern Connecticut State University the first two courses are being offered this summer on a pilot basis. The purpose is to expand the 14 credit program to Eastern, Central and Western Connecticut state universities, with an Introduction to Nanotechnology.

Nanotechnology includes manufacturing and manipulating objects between 1 and 100 nanometers in size. One nanometer is equivalent to one billionth of meter. The technology is very essential in different professions, which includes military applications and medical field.

The amount of $750,000 in grants was given by U.S. Department of Energy for the launching of Connecticut university programs. Most of the money will go to the equipments needed for nanotechnology studies.
