According to the news – Eastern Maine Community College played as a host for the very first charity golf tournament on Monday. There are 76 golfers joined the tournament at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono.
The money that the Eastern Maine Community College will receive from the event will go to the student scholarships for the 32 degrees programs offered in the college.
Eastern Maine Community College President Lawrence Barrett said that as the cost of education across the U.S. increases, at Eastern Maine, they are trying to keep it low with the community college system. He also added that they only increased their tuition by two dollars this year. However, students are still having a hard time paying for it and financial aid sometimes doesn’t cover everything.
President Barrett is expecting to the raise the amount between $5,000 and $6,000 at the charity golf tournament.
