According to the news – President Allen Goben Heartland Community Coll ege has been appointed as the national panel looking at the mission of community colleges. American Association of Community Colleges appointed the The 36-member commission

In a statement issued thursday AACC President Walter G. Bumphus said they have very intentionally selected commissioners who bring diverse viewpoints and backgrounds. That includes a few friendly critics who have consistently challenged community colleges to increase accountability and improve student outcomes.

The commission is the third such effort to realign the community college mission to reflect national needs and changing times. 1947 and 1988 were the previous commision.
Lake Forest is the only other Illinois appointment.
