Board meets new coach at Jacksonville State University

As Jacksonville State University’s football team continues its undefeated season, you might have forgotten that basketball is less than a month away, but Annette Watts is ready to get your attention.

Watts was named the new coach for the JSU women’s basketball team and was introduced to Board of Trustee members during Monday’s meeting. Watts filled the room with energy as she described what is in store for the upcoming season.

“The women are working so hard ya’ll. If you came last year or the year before and got frustrated because they didn’t go hard…I promise you, they will go hard. They are going to give you everything they’ve got. And, that is all I ask for,” said Watts.

Also during the meeting, the Board approved as a whole the fiscal year 2011 budget of $102.7 million. That figure is up 4.85 percent from last year. The majority of the extra expenses come in the form of student aid support to help fund new admission criteria that were established to help bring in better students.

The elite honors program,brightest students at Jacksonville State University,freshmen were inducted into the program at a brief ceremony on the 11th floor of the Houston Cole Library.

The program’s founder, Steven Whitton, has been working at the university for 38 years.

Jacksonville State University is a regional public coeducational university located in Jacksonville, Alabama, USA. Founded in 1883.

The distinction comes with more than just acclaim.It also includes a full scholarship, which covers the cost of tuition, books, food and housing expenses.
