University Love Connection

The Lehigh University men’s basketball team beat Navy, 87-75, this evening in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League tournament at Stabler Arena.

The win propels fourth-seeded Lehigh (16-14) into the semifinal round at No. 1 Bucknell on Sunday.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from Sojka Pavilion in Lewisburg, Pa.

The Bison easily beat Army 78-51 tonight.

C.J. McCollum had a game-high 25 points, while junior forward Jordan Hamilton added a career-high 15.

The Mountain Hawks, who improved to 3-0 against the Midshipmen (11-20) this season, held Patriot League Rookie of the Year forward/center J.J. Avila to nine points.

Junior guard Jordan Sugars added 11 points on 2-for-13 shooting for Navy, which hasn’t won a playoff game since 2001.

Lehigh is the defending Patriot League champion.
