According to the news – New Wisconsin students who go to college in Minnesota will need to pay $1,400 more on their tuition each year starting next fall.
It is because the officials of Minnesota approved a new tuition reciprocity agreement with Badger State. That’s after the approval of Wisconsin Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee last May.
Wisconsin is actually subsidizing Minnesota college tuition for the Badger State residents to almost $1,400 each year. Next fall will be the end of those subsidies. At present, Wisconsin college students and freshman this fall will receive state’s money for each of the next five years.
Actually, the subsides are based on the schools attended. Starting next fall, new Wisconsinites who got to Minnesota Duluth will have the largest hike in tuition.
According to state officials, Wisconsin will save around $21-million over the current two-year budget period.
