According to source – Samantha Gregory had just come in from recess. Gregory, now a 19-year-old freshman at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, attended a discussion on campus Thursday afternoon to talk about that fateful day, the death of Osama bin Laden and the reactions to his killing.

“No one really understood,” Gregory said. “It seemed more like a storyline in a movie.”

For Gregory and her generation, bin Laden has been the face of evil incarnate for more than half of their lives.
She heard about his death Sunday evening while studying for a final.

“People were celebrating — hooting and hollering,” Gregory said. “I was appalled.”

Jordan Finstad, 18, was texting with a friend when she was told to turn on the TV. The UW-L freshman was also in fourth grade on 9/11.

Bin Laden’s death has her asking questions about what exactly happened and why.

“I don’t think students know enough,” Finstad said. “I don’t know what I feel.”

Some of the students doubted whether it was just or necessary to kill the terrorist mastermind rather than bring him to trial. Others saw the death as necessary, although not the celebration.

“We should celebrate the idea of killing terrorism, not a person,” another student at the discussion said.

According to source – The announcement late Sunday evening the United States had located and killed Osama Bin Laden, the face behind the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, was answered on the Iowa State University campus in Ames overnight by the sound of fireworks exploding and the singing of the national anthem.

Ames police said a gathering of students and residents reached in excess of 1,000 people as a mass procession made its way from the Greek neighborhood near the 2100 block of Sunset Drive to central campus.

The crowd appeared to be largely college-aged and shouted and sang “God Bless America” and “Proud to be an American” as it streamed down Welch Avenue. Some participants waved flags and blew horns.

According to source -The big celebration was in State College,Penn., where Penn State students flooded the downtown area. About 5,000 college students was there.

And then the crowd at LSU could give it a run for sheer size.

And Maryland students hit the circle, brought out the U.S. flag and celebrated.

Same with the kids at Iowa State in Ames, Iowa.

And the last picture according to source – Ohio State students jumped into Mirror Lake and treated it like a win over Michigan. Feels like a movie set, complete with the Hollywood ending.
