Davis Educational Foundation lately introduced intends to donate $214,500 attending college grants or loans to Saint Michael’s College to be able to help offer the school’s project entitled Marketing Faculty Leadership and Governance in mastering Final results Assessment. The faculty has implemented a brand new Liberal Studies Curriculum at Saint Michael’s College which will start this fall. The grant money from Davis Educational Foundation will be employed to assess the amount of success from the new program making any changes the faculty feels is essential use a better education to its students.

This education grant will permit training and support of faculty leaders when they’re assessing the potency of the Liberal Studies Curriculum. Faculty leaders will get together to produce a group known as Faculty Fellows, which supports guide their faculty peers using their assessment of recent college programs. This Faculty Fellows group will coordinate discussions by having an Assessment Group, comprised of faculty people too, to determine which aspects will work and which aren’t for that specific Liberal Studies Curriculum subject they’re teaching.

According to source – Five of Greece’s finest students were lately granted the 2011 Saint Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement having a Social Conscience.

The students were Zachary Dean of Rochester, a student at Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School; Alexandra Leader of Rochester, a student at Greece Athena High School; Chad Hylton of Rochester, a student at Greece Olympia High School; Ciera Linder of Rochester, a student at Greece Olympia High School and Ian Maffett of Rochester, a student at Greece Athena High School.

The award recognizes students who demonstrate dedication to leadership in volunteer service and academic achievement.

Award readers, named at schools through the country, are senior high school juniors who’re inductees of the National Honor Society or perhaps an equivalent school-sponsored honors organization.

St Michael’s College 36 Belvedere College 8 IT QUICKLY became apparent here – well, to almost everyone present – that St Michael’s College were going to coast into the quarter-finals of the Leinster Schools’ Cup. Too many marquee players, way too much cohesion and a team that seems intent on removing last season’s jarring final experience from the collective psyche.

The real shame was that Belvedere College were unable to provide a more stern examination as their defensive line leaked far too frequently for a school with such an impressive rugby pedigree.

If not for an inexplicably high penalty count in the beaten side’s favour, resulting in two yellow cards, St Michael’s would have improved upon this six-try shellacking.

The first half belonged to their sparkling Irish Schools’ scrumhalf Luke McGrath. A veteran of last season’s campaign, McGrath, as St Michael’s captain, was more visibly frustrated than most with the stream of penalties whistled against his pack whenever they rumbled into the Belvedere 22.

St. Michael’s surprises Bentley, 54-42

According to source, The St. Michael’s College men’s basketball team earned its second road win of the season Saturday, surprising league-leading Bentley, 54-42, in a Northeast-10 Conference battle.

Tyler Schilling tallied 12 points and 12 rebounds, and the Purple Knights (9-11, 7-9 NE-10) sealed the win by draining 9 of 10 free throws in the final 50 seconds.

Chris Hurley added a season-high 11 points and Travis Warech netted 10 for SMC, which matched last season’s win total.

Tom Dowley tallied 10 points for a Bentley squad that shot 33 percent from the field and made only 4-of-26 3-point attempts. Bentley falls to 16-5 and 14-3 in league play.

Skiing: Incline Village’s Hall performs well in college races

Saint Michael’s College sophomore women’s alpine skier Gabbi Hall, from Incline Village, received a pair of top-25 finishes last weekend at the Colby College Carnival in Maine.

Hall, a team captain, competed in the women’s giant slalom and the women’s slalom events and was Saint Michael’s (Colchester, Vt.) top finisher in both. Hall finished 18th out of 56 competitors in the women’s giant slalom with a final time of 1 minute, 6.99 seconds.
