San Francisco health officials urge use of female condoms

According to source, San Francisco health officials are stepping up the fight against spread of sexually transmitted diseases by urging the use of a more comfortable, redesigned female condom.

The city is the nation’s first to encourage use of the new FC2 condom by women and gay men.

The San Francisco Chronicle says health officials began pushing use of female condoms in the mid-1990s, but they were criticized as awkward, uncomfortable and expensive.

Last year, the manufacturer redesigned the safe-sex female condom using a thinner material. The two rings securing the condom are also made of a softer material.

The condoms will be available at city clinics without charge. Free condoms were distributed Monday at San Francisco’s Civic Center, San Francisco State University, Dolores Park, the Bayview and the Castro.

San Francisco State University is a public institution that was founded in 1899

In a few weeks it will be election time in California and while most residents have their eyes glued to the governatorial race between Meg Whitman and Jerry Brown with Whitman’s former undocumented housekeeper thrown into the mix, a less-publicized but significant election will also be taking place for San Franciscans.

21 candidates are currently vying for the position of Supervisor of District 10, San Francisco’s Southeast section which has long been plagued with unemployment and poverty.

Candidates would be remiss to not reach out to Asian American voters and pay attention to their concerns. At San Francisco State University, Professor Grace Yoo and the students in her Asian American Studies: Community Changes and Development course were thinking the same thing.

A former student of San Francisco State University, a cheerleading coach is accused of being a crook, for allegedly filching nearly $20,000 in cheer club funds.

It was reported, she use the money for paying her rent, airline tickets and trip to Las Vegas and some personal items.She use the money for two year period.

But she pleaded not guilty, according to the San Francisco disctrict attorney.

Authorities say Haley ran the San Francisco State Gators Cheerleading Club and acted as its treasurer.

San Francisco State University students athletes complained.
