Comprehensive Campaign by San Jose State University

San Jose State University was originally established in 1857.

A $5 million commitment from The Valley Foundation is launching the “first-ever comprehensive campaign” by San Jose State University to raise $200 million by 2014.

The Valley Foundation gift will go to the School of Nursing, interim president Don Kassing said.

In gratitude for this gift and more than $3.5 million in past donations, the school will be named the San Jose State University Valley Foundation School of Nursing, pending approval from the California State University Board of Trustees in November.

The gift will be used to invest in an endowment providing long-term support for the nursing school and to provide current support for a state-of-the-art nursing simulation lab.

Founded in 1955, the SJSU School of Nursing is the only public institution granting bachelor’s and master’s nursing.

San Jose State University and Second Start Learning Disabilities Programs Inc. will be providing providing practical classroom training for future special education teachers. They have entered Memorandum of Understanding creating a collaborative agreement.

This is to give opportunities for the students who are enrolled in SJSU class. To observe and learn more about high functioning Autism and about Asperger’s Syndrome.

Second Start Learning Disabilities Programs Inc. is a non profit program. The programs has been helping children for 38 years.
