Stockton College President traveled to Washington D.C for the bid to be host of 2012 presidential debate

According to the news – Last week President Herman J. Saatkamp, Jr the Stockton College went to Washington D.C. to meet with Executive Director of the Commission on Presidential Debates Janet H. Brown about Stockton’s bid to host a presidential debate in 2012.

Dr. Saatkamp said that they are optimistic about Stockton’s application. They have a reputation for academic excellence and civic engagement, as well as all the facilities, infrastructure and central location to host a successful presidential debate.

In March, Stockton College declared they had applied to the Commission with the backing of a bi-partisan group of legislators, as well as civic and community leaders. .S. Senators from New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Ambassador William J. Hughes, host of state and local officeholders gave their letters of support.

Dr. Saatkamp said they had a very productive meeting with Executive Director Brown. She used the opportunity to discuss aspects of the process going forward and the logistics of hosting a debate.
