According to source – On Friday many college-bound Central Texas students got educational funding packages, which year they might be for any little under expected.
Nationally the Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) program was eliminated.
So were the SMART, LEAP, and SLEAP grants, most of which are need-based aid programs.
Changes were also designed to the TEXAS grants or loans program.
McLennan Community College said it lost $250,000 for that program.
Texas State Technical College stated it is also seeing changes around-round Pell Grant program.
For instance, until lately students who qualified for any $3,000 grant might get $1,500 for that fall, summer time and spring terms.
But not now, students will only get funding for two of those terms.
Work-study program funding continues to be available, but on the first-come-first-serve basis also it is dependent on the amount of available jobs on campus.
Some students say they are now looking for scholarships to help fill the gap.
