According to source The University of Alabama softball team will find out tonight how far the ball flies in Birmingham.

The Crimson Tide, which is averaging 2.4 home runs per game, opens a 12-game, two-week road trip at UAB, which concluded the 2010 season at the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional in its first-ever postseason appearance.

Alabama first baseman Cassie Reilly-Boccia and freshman pitcher/designated hitter Jackie Traina lead all Southeastern Conference batters with identical .583 averages. Traina was named SEC Freshman of the Week on Monday after batting .667 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in leading the Crimson Tide to five victories in the Bama Bash tournament. Traina also pitched a one-hit victory over Syracuse last Sunday.

Sophomore outfielder Kayla Braud is carrying a 19-game hitting streak that dates back to last season, tied for the third-longest hitting streak in school history with Brittany Rogers. Kelly Kretschman hit safely in 35 straight games in 1998 and Jordan Praytor had a 25-game streak in 2006.

University of Alabama Birmingham North Pavilion hospital is home to Alabama’s only adult level 1 trauma center.

Located in Birmingham, Alabama, University of Alabama at Birmingham was founded in 1969. It is a public institution.

It was reported that More patients at UAB Hospital the past two years couldn’t pay their bills because of the tough economy.Because of high unemployment and fewer insured patients.

The administrator of the hospital are predicting this will continue untill 2011.

John Faulstich, the UAB Health System’s chief financial officer.The hospital is bracing for more changes caused by both the economy and the health care overhaul.
