According to the news – Eduardo Moreno, Student from University of Arizona, who is living from Yuma, Ariz has developed a robot that can operate both in land and water.

The robot could be use by U.S. Navy , the Department of Homeland Security, rescue efforts and film crews. He called the robot as Autonomous Cooperative Underwater Robotic Vehicle or A-CURV.

According to University of Arizona, the robot is created for exploring relatively shallow water (between 45-100 feet) and closed spaces.

According also to a university story on the project the Autonomous Cooperative Underwater Robotic Vehicle or A-CURV can operate remotely and autonomously, and it has an “easy-to-use modular and upgradable capabilities.

According to the news – Tucson Electric Power, Solon and Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy at the University of Arizona partnered all together for the purpose of the development of an energy storage management research and testing site.

They will study about the applicability and reliability of combining various energy storage technologies with PV onto the grid.

The plan of installing the SMRT site next to 1.6MW solar plant Solon previously built at the University’s Science and Technology Park are under way with a concentration on letting the project to replace and add technologies as advancements arise. Solon will make the design, install and oversee the control system project in four phases.

Executive VP of TEP David Hutchens and its parent company, UniSource Energy said that as they increase our reliance on intermittent solar and wind resources, grid-tied storage systems are going to become a necessary piece of maintaining reliable service for customers. They also added the project will give them the opportunity to work with trusted partners to evaluate the performance of various storage technologies.

In a small room at the University’s Medical School It’s quiet and organized. But these medical students are prepared for total bedlam.

More than 400 medical, nursing and pharmcidical students and faculty members spread themselves out across the school Monday morning going over training and procedures in case a flu pandemic ever broke out in the Old Pueblo.
