According to source – University of California Merced again continues to be saved in the ax and will not face any budget cutbacks.

However, University authorities are now being conservative within their planning and therefore are searching for measures to chop costs. One of these is to stop leasing a building in Bakersfield in order to save $400,000. Doing this won’t mean the University will finish its presence in the area.

The state’s final budget requires for the University of California and the California State University systems to slash $650 million each. Previously, each was facing the loss of $500 million.

The Ten-year lease for that building that houses two University of California at Merced employees was up for renewal at the begining of September, stated Patti Waid, speaker for UC Merced. Authorities made the decision assets might be spent better in the areas, she added.
