Founded in 1859 as a private institution, the University of Illinois at Chicago. Center predated the University of Illinois at Chicago (circa 1965).

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, has awarded a grant of $250,000 to the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity committed to funding the most promising research to find cures for childhood cancer and to give survivors a long and healthy life.

The University of Illinois Medical Center at Chicago provides comprehensive services to children and adolescents with cancer,
leukemia, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and other blood disorders.
