According to the news – Last july 28, UMMS which is known as University of Massachusetts Medical School announced their brand new two year contract to pursue giving newborn screening services to Maine State. The services will be given by New England Newborn Screening Program. It is actually a part of UMMS’s Commonwealth Medicine division.
New England Newborn Screening Program started in 1976 and already scans more than 500,000 babies born in Maine State. They actually perform more than 180, 00 tests each year to know newborns with treatable disorders. The proposal of University of Massachusetts Medical School to pursue giving services includes option for renewal of up to four years and received the top score during the review process.
