According to the news – University of North Alabama officials launched an aggressive communications tactics to sell the move from NCAA Division II to Division I to the campus community as well as the greater Shoals community.

According to UNA’s athletic director, Mark Linder he and others from the university are making themselves available to speak anytime, anywhere and anyplace. He also added that Now that he has a direction, we have started the process of scheduling meetings with individuals and groups in the Shoals. It will be a rigorous schedule. They believe it is important to speak to as many people face to face as possible.

Mark Linder and many others have met Downtown Florence Unlimited members and have the plan to talk to civic groups in Colbert and Lauderdale counties.

President of the DFU, Van Morgan said he wasn’t sure what effect the presentation had on members. He also added It’s been a top priority of the DFU to support the science (and engineering technology) building, which we think will have a huge impact on the university, the downtown and the region. To the extent we’ve discussed Division I athletics at DFU, I think it’s a broad spectrum of opinions among the members about whether it will divert resources from other programs.

There will be homecoming for University of North Alabama. Which everybody is looking forward too.

Jay Hurt is the bureau chief of the NBC News channel in Washington,D.C. will be one of the three alumni of the year who will be recognized at the homecoming.

James Ingram and Kembrel Jones will be honored during the halftime show of Saturday’s homecoming game against Arkansas Tech University.

University of North Alabama is a public institution that was founded in 1830. It has a total undergraduate enrollment of 6195.
