More than 10,000 Beverly Hills residents voted for Barack Obama in the 2008 election. Although no one will be nominating a president this time around, can Democrats still expect majority support on Nov. 2?

To help ensure victory for Democratic candidates, Obama visited Los Angeles on Friday and energized a crowd of more than 30,000 people on the USC campus. The president urged students to go out and vote for California Democratic candidates Jerry Brown (governor), Barbara Boxer (U.S. senator), and Kamala Harris (attorney general) next month. Here are some highlights from the rally at USC.

For 15 long years, The popular annual literary event was held at UCLA.  However, officials announced Wednesday that The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books will move its weekend-long celebration of the written word to the University of Southern California campus next spring.
