University of Southern Indiana is a comprehensive public university, founded in 1965.

The University of Southern Indiana officially opens its Business and Engineering Center.

University of Southern Indiana officials cut the ribbon on the $31-million building Sunday afternoon. Construction started back in the summer of 2008.

The Business and Engineering Center is more than 120,000 square feet and features the latest in technology. The building has state-of-the-art labs for scientific experiments.

There are 77 classrooms and a 99-seat lecture hall. Officials say the building also uses green technology, including motion censors to turn off lights when the classroom is not in use. The building also saves on energy bills by using natural light, let in through large glass windows throughout the building.
