Eagles End Season With Tough Overtime Loss

According to source, The University of the Ozarks men’s basketball team ended the season with a tough 82-81 overtime loss against Texas-Tyler Saturday afternoon in American Southwest Conference play.

It was the second straight overtime loss for Ozarks, which ends the year with a 6-19 overall record and a 3-17 record in conference play. The Eagles let a 40-26 halftime lead slip away as the Patriots (12-13, 11-9 ASC) outscored Ozarks 46-32 in the second half and 10-9 in overtime. The Eagles held a 72-67 lead with 2:14 left in the game only to see the Patriots storm back to tie it and send the game into overtime. In overtime, Ozarks scored first, but the Patriots hit a three-pointer with 1:12 left to gain a 82-78 advantage.

However, Shawn Curtis answered with a shot from long-range to get Ozarks within 82-81 with 56 seconds left. But neither team would score again even though there were chances.

Andre Williams and Marcus Bobb combined for 27 first half points and helped Ozarks hold a 17-point lead at one time. The Eagles then held the lead the entire second half, but Brandon Levine’s layup with 39 seconds left tied the game, 72-72.
