According to source – Jim Klausman was named chairman of the Washburn University Board of Regents, and Blanche Parks will work as vice chairwoman, the university stated Tuesday.

Klausman obtained his bachelor’s degree in political science from Washburn in 1974. He is president and chief executive officer of Midwest Health Inc. in Topeka.

Klausman is also a member of the Topeka Sales and Marketing Executives and is also past president of the Kansas Health Care Association and a former chairman of the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce.

According to source – Four Washburn University staff members were honored with eminentes universitatis status throughout an employee and faculty honours event.

Dave Boose started work on Washburn in 1983 and it has single-handedly built or designed a lot of the campus cabling infrastructure.

Marj Murray began work at Washburn in 1989 as the library assistant in charge of interlibrary loans.

Vickie Waters began her service to Washburn as a secretary II in the university relations office in 1993, with a position upgrade to office assistant in 2000.

Linda Williams began her service to Washburn in January 1988 at KTWU-TV as a part-time underwriting representative in the development department seeking sponsorships for KTWU programming.

According to source, Washburn University is one of hundreds of schools across the country participating in No Name-Calling Week, Jan. 24-28.

The activities during the week are designed to end name-calling of all kinds and provide people with the tools and inspiration to launch an on-going dialogue about ways to eliminate bullying in their communities. All events are free and open to the public.

Schedule of events :

– Monday, Jan. 24: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., No Name Calling pledge signing, main lobby, Memorial Union.

5 p.m., movie screening, “Precious,” iRead Lounge, Mabee Library.

Washburn University Foundation announced the addition of six new members Monday, who have recently been appointed to the Washburn University Foundation Board of Directors.

As the governing body responsible for the implementation of the strategic mission of the Foundation, the Board of Directors also assists to develop and invest private support for the benefit of Washburn University.

Directors serve four-year terms upon being nominated and elected by the Board of Trustees to serve. The four-year term for the following individuals began August 1, 2010.
