Wilberforce says goodbye to top players

According to source, Wilberforce University will be saying goodbye to two of the best three-point shooters in Bulldog basketball history today when the men’s and women’s teams close out their regular seasons with a pair of Senior Day games at the Alumni Multiplex.

Andrecia Smith, a 5-foot-7 guard from Grand Rapids, is the lone senior on the women’s team which hosts Ursuline at 2 p.m. Earlier this month she hit nine three-pointers—- a school record — in a 39-point game against Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Tim Giles, a 5-foot-7 guard from Detroit is the only senior for the men who meet Roberts Wesleyan at 4 p.m. Before coming to Wilberforce, Giles red-shirted a season at Kentucky State and then transferred to Wayne State, where he saw limited action.

In the first of his three seasons with the Bulldogs, he had 32-point games against Shawnee State and Rio Grande, hitting eight three pointers in each to tie the school record.
